Music-y stuff

Seeing as yesterday we drove over here, I decided to share some of the music that was on my playlist.

Warning: this is kind of long. Also with some commentary. And BREAKING NEWZ Why 'My Humps' makes me lulz

1 Billy Talent - Try Honesty. I hated this song when it came out. Now I like it. It was overplayed too much.
2 Lola Ray - She's A Tiger
3 Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby. Originally when I tried listening to them, I didn't like them much. But I do like this song.
4 Sam Roberts - No Sleep. I don't listen to alot of music that isn't in english (the only song other than this is 'Poster Of A Girl' by Metric.), But this song is too awesome. Side note, I had a friend that lives in St. Laurent, and had a friend named Catherine ("Au coin de St. Catherine et St. Laurent").
5 The Stills - Allison Krausse. I can't get enough of this song lately. Tim fletcher has a completely amazing voice, It made my heart sad when he only had main vocals on one song off of Without Feathers.
6 We Are Scientists - Nobody move, Nobody Get Hurt. Really catchy. Also these guys are funny.
7 The Police - Every Breath You Take. Meaghan noticed this sounded slightly stalkerish "IIIILLLL BEEE WATCHING YOUUU (while you are sleeping)", The noted 'Oh, they probably didn't have stalkers back in the 80s...'
8 Matthew Good - In Love With A Bad Idea. I always listen to this whenever we drive somewhere. The first line makes me stare at the sun.
9 Moby - Southside. I think I prefer the version without Gwen Stefani.
10 Millionare - Ballad Of Pure Thoughts. Just some awesomeness.
11 American Hi-Fi - Flavor Of The Weak. Known as a one his wonder, The album this is on isn't that bad.
12 Led Zeppelin - Babe I'm gonna leave you. Meaghan doesn't like anothing pre the year 2000, And she said this band were 'alright', So that is kinda monumental.
13 Matthew Good Band - Load me Up. On of the first mbg songs I got my hands on, I remember listening to it on long car drives about a year ago. I would also reccommend Deep Six, if your asking.
14 Dirty Pretty Things - If You Love A Woman. Carl Barat's reason for writing this song? "I wanted to write a song with the word 'Musnt' in it." I also remember onetime we were driving, Listeing to one of my mix CD's, this song came on and I laughed halariously through the whole thing.
15 The Bravery - Out of line. Meaghan has their CD. "I think it's safe to say, That I get carried away..."
16 The Bravery - Unconditional
17 Youth Group - Skeleton Jar
18 Yeti - The Last Time You Go. Mmm, Catchy. John speaks!
19 The Tragically Hip - My Music At Work
20 Default - Who Followed Who?. I still like this song. Actually, I still like that album...
21 The Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings. They preformed this at Live Earth. Also, I have some stuff by them but only ever seem to listen to this song.
22 Keane - Somewhere Only We Know. Also preformed at Live Earth. Yes, I watched it from about 11:30 AM to... 11:30 PM...
23 Kasabian - ID. They were on Live Earth, And I thought I had heard the song (this one) that they were preforming.. Found it on the ol' mp3 player...
24 Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man. *Blames Addison and Kaytlyn because they were singing this in the car*
25 Christina Aguilera - Dirty. *Blames Kaytlyn for giving me that remix*

Go find your own lyrics from here on out. :P

26 SoulDecision - Ooh It's Kinda Crazy. *Blames Kaytlyn*. Someone I knew on LJ said she was in one of they're vidoes and I think this was the one.
27 Linkin Park - Papercut. Waht's better than playing Kaytlyns music in the car? Playing Kaytlyns music in the car and Linkin Park randomly coming on, As Kaytlyn listens to mostly pop.
28 Sam Roberts - Where Have All The Good People Gone?
29 Sam Roberts - Brother Down
30 Black Eyed Peas - My Humps. I'm currently writing a parody of this song. It's about computers, and it's awesome. Dad laughed while he was reading what I have so far so it has to be good. It involves too many games, someone who still living with their mom, Hackin ur wireless, Lan parties... This song brings back alot of memories for some reason. Onetime at a youth group I used to go to, someone started singing it (Will, I bet you) and everyone else joined in, This guy who is basically my size using baloons for props... Strange people.
31 Finger Eleven - Falling On. Their new single.. I saw the video.. Didn't interest me, But I do really like this song.
32 Finger Eleven - Paralyzer
33 The Moffatts - Bang Bang Boom. HAI KAYTLYN LETS SING!! And we did. It was awesome.
34 Matthew God Band - Anti-pop. Lets get the party started... Give them blood and they'll love you for it... Did anyone know this was written about the canadian version of making the band, the band Sugar Jones that was created from that? Awesomeness. YOU'RE JUST TIRED!!
35 Deftones - Hole in the Earth. Meaghan wanted to listen to them while we were playing Tomb Raider.
36 Deftones - Cherry Waves. Probably one of my favorite songs off that album (Though I prefer the album 'Around The Fur')
37 Deftones - Mein
38 Maroon 5 - Don't Look Back In Anger (Oasis Cover)
39 Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger. My friend Nick listens to alot of Hardcore metal music (the newer kind of stuff...), And one of the last conversations we had we were talking about this song. Why exactly, I don't know. But he likes this song!
40 Maroon 5 - Closer (Acoustic NIN Cover). If you heard this song before (or the original), You know there is no words. It makes me LOL.
41 Maroon 5 - Harder To Breathe. In the year 2004 I started buying my own CD's, And I can remember the ones I bought for my birthday and christmas that year. This CD was one of them, Along with Big Shiny Tunes 9, Now! 9, Stabilo - Cupid? EP, Three Days Grace -s/t, Default - Elocation.
42 Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder. I managed to download a leak of about half of their new album and this is by far the best song on it, From what I heard.

I’m not hip to the teen music scene, but in June, the Chicago Tribune linked to both the Black Eyed Peas version of My Humps and the Alanis Morrisette version. Thought provoking.

“Early mornin’ / I got Mona Lisa by my side / what’s the story / behind that devious smile? DO DO DO DO!”

Man, I need to get those crappy Reanimation songs off my friggin’ mp3 player!

PS: Christina’s new stuff is very intriguing. I don’t know what it is about the jazzy/big band sound, but while I’ve never been interested in it before, I find it fascinating the way she presents it, and modernizes it. I’m not saying it’s deep lyrics or thoughtful music or anything, but the phenomenon itself is just really thought-provoking. …For me, anyway.

…Watcha gonna do with all that junk?

Yeah. Candyman. I saw that video and liked it. My Dad is a big band musician.
A blog I read has a Video of the Day in her sidebar and I saw the song there.
